2008 Harvest Festival

The weather was beautiful for Tinker Nature Park's annual Fall Harvest Festival. We'd like to thank the Tinker Homestead and Farm Museum's Docents, the Friends of Tinker Nature Park, and the dozens of other volunteers for all of their help!

Beekeepers Ed Schmitt and Damon Lincourt harvest honey from the park's beehives

Honey being bottled

Roth Middle School volunteer Victoria Moore selling fresh honey

Volunteers hand out samples of food made with honey

Friends of Tinker Nature Park (Martha Jodoin, Bob Hodge, and John Giancursio) help with wagon ride admissions

The local Dundee brewery donates a percentage of all sales to honey bee research

Children enjoy wagon rides and close encounters with horses

An antique farm tool display in the barn included this corn sheller, used to remove kernels of corn from the cob

Golden Eagle String Band entertain guests as they enjoy cider and donuts in the barn

It would be nice if you could post a quick reminder on this blog when events like this are coming up. Not that it's not nice to see the pics of them afterward, but it would be nice to use this as a source of information as to upcoming activities at the park.
