Bird Feeder Report
Since November, we have been keeping track of the birds that come to the feeders outside the nature center window. In November and December combined, we had the following species:
American Tree Sparrow
A Red-bellied Woodpecker snacks on some suet.
Other interesting sightings include an Eastern Bluebird which perched on the feeder post in early November, and a juvenile Cooper's Hawk, which looms overhead in the trees waiting to grab one of the feeder birds. It is not unusual to see the Cooper's Hawk in pursuit of a mourning dove fly by the window.
We have our share of pesky squirrels as well.
